Its commercial facet, offering private buyers and investors a wide range of opportunities in new-build and second-hand homes, runs alongside a professional event with content focusing on public-private partnerships and generating business

Malaga, 15 March 2024.- Simed, Mediterranean Real Estate Exhibition, will hold its 20th edition on 7, 8, and 9 November in FYCMA (Trade Fair and Congress Centre of Málaga) as the leading event in the residential sector specialising in second homes and property investment. Positioned as one of the sector’s most important events in Spain, the exhibition will gather the country’s leading property developers and real estate agents with a high-quality offer. The reservation period for booking spaces is already open.

Simed offers private buyers and investors access to various options when looking for a first or second home, a holiday apartment, or an investment property among the largest range of residential real estate gathered in a single space. It also provides financing options and advice on the purchasing or rental process to help with decision-making.

The trade fair is also consolidated as a top-level professional event, bringing together the entire real estate industry to do business, invest, and anticipate trends. With a programme of specialised content, this year’s edition will cover subjects such as property investment, public-private partnerships, and innovation and sustainable construction.

Investment properties

Simed creates a space for analysis of lifestyle trends and new investment opportunities in the residential sector. The exhibition is also attracting increasing interest from different types of Spanish and international investors -over 200 in 2023- with options for investing in the construction and development of first homes, tourist residences, and multifamily formulas, among others.

The event specialises in the residential sector with the largest offer located on and around the Mediterranean coast, which will include direct sale opportunities in new-build and second-hand properties in the salon itself. In 2023, for example, properties were available from over 70 municipalities in Spain.

This subject area will include activities like the second-hand home promotion forum ‘Prime Homes Summit’, the Meeting Point co-organised with the Provincial Builders and Developers Association (ACP Málaga), and the ‘2nd Forum on Opportunities and Trends in Residential Tourism’.

Public-private partnerships

This event is well-established as a meeting place where public administrations and the private sector come together to find potential synergies with developers, builders, and investors, and discuss the challenges and opportunities of partnership. In 2023, Simed attracted over 380 government representatives at the national, regional, and local levels.

The offers at Simed include land, programmes, and lines of urban and property development promoted by public admnistrations at these three levels. It also promotes formulas to facilitate housing development through pioneering specialist meetings such as the ‘2nd Public-Private Partnership for Investment Forum’, a unique event at the national level to encourage collaboration between government and the private sector as an economic catalyst, while also offering solutions for the challenges facing the housing sector.

Other activities fostering public-private partnerships are the ‘International Meeting of Public Housing Developers and Managers in the Mediterranean Axis’, organised by Malaga’s Municipal Housing Institute, the Spanish Social Housing Association (AVS), and the international agent Housing Europe.

Innovation and sustainable construction

Simed also spotlights sustainable and industrialised construction with solutions provided by PropTech companies, such as ‘The House of the Future’, a forum exploring such vital subjects as artificial intelligence applied to the sector, the circular economy, new methodologies in processes, etc. Other activities in the forum are aimed at startups, such as ‘Simed Innova’ and the ‘Open Call for PropTech Startups’, where new Spanish and international companies can present their initiatives to the ecosystem of investors, experts, and innovation directors in the real estate sector.

Simed is organised by FYCMA (Trade Fair and Congress Centre of Malaga), part of Malaga City Council, in partnership with Asociación de Promotores Constructores de España (APCE), FADECO Promotores, and Asociación Provincial de Constructores y Promotores (ACP Málaga).
